Situated in North East Bristol, these neighbourhoods sit alongside the Clifton campus.

With the charm of Clifton and the convenience of access to campus, many students live in shared houses in this area.

Cotham and Kingsdown

Cotham and Kingsdown are two small neighbourhoods that surround the Clifton campus.

When you walk the length of Woodland Road, where our Arts and Humanities Complex is located, you’ll emerge in Cotham.

Cotham is a beautiful neighbourhood, characterised by its independent eateries.

The pedestrianised Cotham Hill plays host to neighbourhood street parties throughout the summer, where local vendors set up food, drink and crafts stalls.

Kingsdown sits parallel with the Clifton campus and is largely residential.

This area encompasses St Michael's Hill, one of the steepest in Bristol. Coffee shops and cafés in Kingsdown are bustling on weekdays, due to their proximity to campus.

Redland

A significant number of Redland residents are University of Bristol students. It's a popular residential neighbourhood only a short walk from campus.

Lining the streets are elegant townhouses and plenty of greenery. As well as being close to Clifton Downs, the area is dotted with smaller parks.

If you live here as a student, you'll have access to plenty of amenities and great public transport links.

Chandos Road and Lower Redland Road are home to some of the best independent eateries in Bristol. You'll also find plenty of coffee shops stocking locally roasted blends.

Redland is well connected by buses and a local train line. Bristol Temple Meads is only ten minutes from Redland by train.
