Plan your day

Explore our university and city and find out what it’s like to be a student here at an open day.

Our open days offer talks and tours, with many opportunities to meet academics, current students and our student services teams. Here are our tips for getting the most out of your day:

Before you get here

Book your place

Make sure you have booked your place beforehand. On the booking form, you will be able to book subject talks and student life sessions, and some subjects allow you to book subject-specific activities before you get here. Our sessions have limited capacity and will be filling up quickly.

If you are attending as a school group, all visitors must book a space individually. If you would like to attend as a group, please contact visit-us@bristol.ac.uk.

Sign in to your booking portal account

Information on how to access your booking portal account is available in your booking confirmation email. When you sign in, you can view or amend your booking and download your QR code for the event. Sign in and view your booking.

On the day

If you need assistance, head to the information point in Royal Fort Gardens.

Pick up an Open Day Guide

Make sure to pick up a guide from the information point. The open day guide includes key information and a map to help you navigate your way around the campus. Our stewards will also be handing these out, so look for the people in red t-shirts.

Attend talks and activities

Find out more about your chosen subject, get involved in subject-specific activities, and learn more about what student life at Bristol is like.

Visit our accommodation

You can find out about student accommodation at the open day in many ways. Book a talk, speak with staff from our Student Accommodation team at the exhibition, and visit some residences.

A variety of residences in our North Village (Stoke Bishop), East Village and West Village are open to view between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm.

We recommend allowing extra time to view our residences as they may get busy at peak times. You can find out more about accommodation, including the accommodation guarantee, prior to the open day. You can also view the locations of the residences on our campus map

Explore our campuses

Our beautiful campuses in Clifton and Langford are open for you to explore. Use the map in your guide or speak to our stewards to help you get around. Many of our facilities will be open to view, including several of our libraries and study spaces and the University of Bristol Students' Union.

Take in our campus highlights at your own pace using the campus tour app. It may take 30 minutes or longer to walk between activities, so allow plenty of time to explore.

For those interested in the Veterinary School, we run free buses to the Langford campus throughout the day. Find out more information on our Getting Here page.

Enjoy some food and refreshments

Grab a hot drink and a bite to eat at one of our campus cafes or enjoy a slice of Bristol life over lunch in Royal Fort Gardens, where there will be a whole host of local street food stalls offering a wide variety of cuisines. All our outlets offer food suitable for a range of dietary requirements.

Use our facilities

Our facilities will be marked on the map in the guide you will receive on the day.

Your safety

We want you to have a great day when you come and visit us. Open days are busy and you may need to walk between activities using public roads that will be open to traffic as usual. Large numbers of visitors mean that pavements in certain areas can become very crowded, so please take care when crossing roads.

First-aid trained members of staff will be available in all buildings that are open on the day and our stewards will be able to help you. In an emergency, contact the University's Security Services on 0117 331 1223.

Photography and filming will take place at this event. By attending, you acknowledge you may be photographed/filmed for University of Bristol publicity materials. If you wish to not be photographed or filmed, please notify University staff on the day.

If you have access requirements or impaired mobility, please see our accessibility information.
